Here is an extract from the Optimizing Power with Affinity Groups Poster Presentation I gave at the IBM Technical Symposium in Melbourne 2017.

We recently ran some load testing using Load Runner and the same workload was applied to two different LPARs with the exact same configuration. These tests show the reduced core requirements for a real world p7 to p8 migration.
We recently ran some load testing using Load Runner and the same workload was applied to four different LPARs with the exact same configuration. These tests highlight the negative effects from having high vCPU counts and low Entitlments.
AIX and VIO Server testing results for network bandwidth on an E880 for the internal vSwitch and external 1Gbit and 10Gbit switches. Tests include LPAR network bandwidth for core to core, chip to chip and node to node configurations.
I recently tuned an AIX LPAR running on a p7-780 frame and the end result from the tuning showed that Less Virtual Processors and More Entitlement can equal Better Performance.
