Posted by steve on 14 Jul 2017 in AIX Tips, HMC Tips

Starting with AIX7.1 TL4 and AIX7.2 TL0 and Firmware for 840 you can now make dynamic LPAR name changes on AIX.

Before the Name Change.

$ lparstat -i | grep Partition

Partition Name : AIX-TEST01
Partition Number : 149

Change the name on HMC.

> chsyscfg -m frame -r lpar -i 'lpar_id=149,new_name=MY-LPAR'
